Farmstand Trail map shows 80 places to buy local
Megan Hunter, a local resident, built a free Google map of farm stands across the North Okanagan and Shuswap. It marks 80 stops, and 19 of them sit within about 10 kilometres of Armstrong.
Farm stands sit at the end of driveways all over this valley. Finding them has always been a matter of luck. Megan Hunter, a local resident, decided to fix that. She built a free Google map called the Farmstand Trail. Her description of it runs to one line: “a trail of farmstands to make shopping local easier.”
The map marks 80 stops. It reaches from Peachland in the south to past Sicamous in the north, and west toward Westwold. The thickest cluster sits right here. Nineteen stands are within about 10 kilometres of Armstrong.
What you can buy on the trail
The stands sell what the season gives them. Eggs turn up more than anything else. After that come cut flowers, produce, honey, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, sourdough, preserves, and baked goods.
Some stops are narrower than that. One sells only Red Russian garlic from mid July to October. One sells asparagus in May and June. One sells alpaca mulch for the garden. One sells composted chicken manure. A few sell soap, pottery, yarn, and glass art alongside the food.

Farm stands are small businesses
Every pin on that map is someone growing, raising, or baking something and selling it themselves. Money spent at a farm stand stays in the community. It pays for feed, seed, fuel, and the next season’s planting.
