Scarecrows on the Street registration is open for 2026

Registration is now open for Scarecrows on the Street 2026.

This year, the much-loved fall contest is joining the Harvest Pumpkin Festival as Discover Downtown: Harvest Pumpkin Festival Edition - Scarecrows on the Street Trail.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce is inviting local businesses and organizations to create harvest-themed displays that include at least one handmade scarecrow. The trail will give residents and festival visitors a fun reason to explore downtown Armstrong, discover local businesses, vote for their favourite scarecrow, and enter the Discover Downtown prize draw.

How to take part

Participating businesses and organizations are asked to:

• Create a harvest-themed display with at least one handmade scarecrow
• Give the scarecrow a name
• Display the numbered trail marker supplied by the chamber
• Have the scarecrow ready and displayed by Thursday, October 1

Displays can be simple or elaborate. Straw, flannel shirts, old hats, hay bales, pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and business-themed costumes are all welcome starting points.

Participating locations can also choose to collect non-perishable food for the local Food Bank as part of the Food Bank Challenge.

Dates to know

• Register by Friday, September 25, 2026
• Have scarecrows ready and displayed by Thursday, October 1, 2026
• The Harvest Pumpkin Festival and Scarecrow Trail run October 2 to 12, 2026

Final voting and prize details will be shared with participating businesses.

Every participating business and organization will be entered in a participant prize draw, and the public will vote for the People’s Choice Scarecrow.
