Ray immigrated to Canada in 1988 from South Africa. After graduating from TWU in 1992, Ray served a 1-year term in Uganda with Africa Community Technical Service, remaining on the board for several years.
In 2001, Ray moved to Armstrong, joined the fire department, transferring from Chilliwack FD, and started a farm management business that he continues to operate.
In 2006, Ray joined the BC Chicken Growers Association and served until 2023. During his tenure, he served as Interior Chair for 12 years. Ray & his wife Melanie enjoyed many years with the Poultry in Motion educational trailer visiting schools, fairs, and community events.
Armstrong is unique in its closeness to the rural community surrounding it, and Ray would like to help bridge that by being a strong listener to the community and how to best address issues in a collaborative, honest, and transparent way, focusing on growth that matches our community’s uniqueness.
